6-10 (Six to Ten)

If you are anything like me, your social schedule has a life of its own. So much, in fact, that often times the question is not "what" it is, but "when" it is! Proper time management is key when attempting to enjoy the full scope of special events and social moments alike.

So, in a tribute to today's date 6-02-10, I will give you the "Social Science" breakdown to perfect timing for a typical four hour event in an effort to keep you right on time!

Hour 1: Friendly Formalities
ARRIVE ON TIME! Being "fashionably late" only works for personally crafted moments with specific guests, i.e. birthday parties. Events with special invites and a specific timeline have been crafted for you to enjoy every moment from start to finish. The first hour also allows you to meet the event host or hostess, event planners and to fully experience the decor and ambiance.

Hour 2: Getting Into the Swing of Things
By this time, more guests have arrived and the vibe has picked up. You are now able to take a step back, breath and reset for your next mission. You've made introductions, taken pictures (while everything is still in tact) and enjoyed featured cocktails and delicacies. You are also aware of the people that have been in the room and the people that are just arriving. This gives you the advantage and opportunity to become the "dot connector." Broker new friendships, acquaintances and business opportunities.

Hour 3: Let Your Hair Down
By the third hour, your "work" is done! Enjoy the music and live in the moment. Dance, sing and laugh simultaneously. You've made connections, friends and accomplished whatever social goals you entered the room with. The evening is in full swing and you're so glad that you weren't turned away because the event is now at capacity!

Hour 4: Mission Accomplished
You came, you saw, you conquered! Give your final round of air-kisses and fragrance enduced embraces. Don't position yourself to assist with the buffet breakdown! Graciously, thank your host and gather your parting gift. Make one final stop in the lavatory and head to valet before the line gets too long!

You were the perfect guest and you had a perfect night. Cheers!

Now, respond to that invite and assure yourself that you will indeed be, RIGHT ON TIME!
